Somehow both Holloway and Archway Roads have become this modern magnet for bands. No longer Abbey Road, or the under the Westway, or around Hoxton Square - the true hub of beavering talent is North London. Endless reams of talented, good-looking, tight-jeaned lads are holed up in delapidated flats, going into bars and pubs with hip flasks of liquor to top up their pints of coke.
The Cavaliers have just moved down London, having having played the DIY boxes of Salisbury, joining the North London fray of Pete Doherty, The Holloways, The Draytones...oh fuck, we also spawned Razorlight and Amy Whinehouse. Are they putting babybio in the water around here?
'Halloween' is a jingly jangly happy tune, with nice rolling vocal sung by nice young men for nice indie ladies, and would go down with the hair do's in Nambucca like raw flesh in a Zombie restaurant. However besides the title and the release date (out this Monday, October 29), it has no Halloween feeling whatsoever. Not one scary note in the whole song. What happened to some sinister minor chords?! The same reason why Eagles of Death Metal will never get my patronage (for having nothing to do with Death Metal, or Eagles, for that matter).
Unfortunately not for me - Identi-Indie. 'Halloween'? Someone give me a phat riff please with banshee wails rather then this Scooby Doo soundtrack.
But don't listen to me - have a listen for yourself
