Klaxons magick 250

Klaxons are the buzz band of the moment, but don’t let that put you off. After setting the rafters of Koko alight last week, Klaxons are playing like the Vice Magazine reading Pied Piper of the Hip Kids of old London/New York.

Trend Spotters & Cool Hunters (charmingly known as cunters) are predicting this is the tip of the iceberg for a four to the floor revival along with Justice, and Simian Model Disco’s. SMD’s James Ford is not coincidentally is pressing the knobs and twiddling the studio buttons on these tracks.

The track Magick kicks off surprisingly dark – this is a good thing, spooky eeewwoooeeewooo starts the track just in time for Halloween weekend. Surprisingly it is a full band stabbing guitar sound. Not the banging rave techo the glowstick crowds might of led us to believe. In fact there is a nice half time dropped chorus in there, put some heavier distortion and a deep gruff voice on it it wouldn’t be out of place on a Metallica track. It soon jumps back into the frantic spazz out on the dancefloor filling racket. A high energy track indeed.

Of the other tracks Hall of Records – is a cheerier number asking for you to dance with him. Again all manic and this upbeat … Beats… which is exactly this last Magick mix is all about the thumping bassdrums Simian Mobile Disco working over the single for dancefloor. Bring on a Saturday night at Razzmatazz !!!!

Great record.
Out on Polydor Monday October 30th
