Black Lips, I wasn't too fussed the last time I saw a Black Lips CD in my player. Yet never judge man by his former deeds but for the one he is about to commit.
Venu Vidi Vici is a dusty clonky track opening with a simple unoriginal lyric and little to no ambition. That sentence sounded like it should of been a cuss, but it isn't, somehow this track turns those qualities around effortlessly.
This track is great.
It is Lou Reed, it is the wedding Scene in Kill Bill, it is the spit and sawdust of the 3:10 to Yuma. It is all ice-cool, and that is before I noticed that bleedin' Vice logo on the sleeve. Simple, Stylish and totally fuzzed out guitar bliss.
The remix is simple and pretty smashing too, could be played at a country night to a nu-rave evening. This is going in the record box.
