Shit Robot is Dublin born Marcus Lambkin, one time NYC resident and now based in Stuttgart - a Germanic relocation that has evidently rubbed off on his music.
But anyone calling themselves Shit Robot is of course begging not to be taken too seriously. And the epic tech funk of ‘Wrong Galaxy’ is packed with little amusements, such as a surging build that climax’s into a deliberately retro keyboard sounds.
Once the song kicks in proper we’re treated to a groovy but minimal refrain and mid paced drum arrangements that give a nod to the electronic funk of acts such as Booka Shade - although this lacks some of their production fineness. None-the-less it works a treat.
Second up is Triumph, which pounds along like a Italo version of a re-discovered Kraftwerk track - until it’s suddenly rudely interrupted by Van Halen, SLF and a lost African choir.
