The latest missive from the label that includes the people behind everyone’s favourite German house club, the Robert Johnson, at its helm, spins out a long, deep and subtle Losoul groove.

Cut So Sweet’ lives up to its title in every way. A long, slow sweep of a track, the tricks are in the details, which abound in this otherwise bitter-sweet minimal tune.

Mostly swaddled in warm sounds, in the first eight minutes it’s only the momentary scythe of an electronically sharp-edged bass line that produces the “cut” in the title. Blink and you’ll miss it.

But it returns in full force after nine minutes, which, at an overall length of 12 minutes, that still leaves three minutes to get your groove on.

Back Wash Rider’ is a scrubbier affair. Built on a scratchy snare skip and a rolling warped disco bassline, it’s playhouse all the way.
