Fresh on new London imprint defDrive, 33Hz hail from New York, although their variedly influenced sound could have come from anywhere post 1979.

With ‘Hot Flashes’ they lay down a slab Eighties inspired funk - think post Cameo pop, Loose Ends, latter day Fatback band and Rick James. Big synth lines and post p-funk inspired beats abound.

This is backed up by ‘Crazy All The Time’, which has spring, if not summer, in it’s step.

Among the bewildering number of remixes available, there’s house versions in form of the best avoided ‘Just Crazy’ mixes, a more controlled electro beep and beat version from Zoo Brazil and a nicely cut up bass line led remix by Magic Johnson, which easily leads the pack.
