Formed by Teppo Makynen, the drummer from NuSpirit Helsinki and the superb Five Corners, TRS packs musical punch as well as rhythmic power. Brubeck references appear on ‘Askaa’, Cab Calloway on ‘King Abdisa', Herbie Hancock or Miles Davis ripple through ‘Damn Straight‘, Nineties downbeat informs ‘Steady‘, and Fela Kuti’s afrobeats funk though ‘Around The Clock‘. Eleswhere there’s touches of Roy Ayers ‘Appreciation‘, and library music funk. Great if you dig their crate.
