Sunn o))) were you in the audience that day?
So are the Glaswegians Mogwai almost going mainstream these days? Seem to have adverts in the press, headlining popular festivals. If they do they deserve it after over ten years of being the United Kingdoms kings of Post Rock. This EP is quirky looking thing; Must be one of the band members dogs done up as Yoda on the cover. Mogwai, funny how this has become a band and no longer a cute thing that you can’t feed at Midnight.
Travel is Dangerous – depends if your getting the nightbus 43 or 29 it would seem. As someone who's Ipod is full of post rock, I must say this could easily be mistaken for any the bands that have come in Mogwai’s wake: It could be Oceansize, could be 65 Days of Static. But no it is the original and the best, but somehow not sounding so original.
Auto Rock (Errors Remix) Enjoy the electro build up of this, reminds me of an MTV in the good days, where someone did a show about EBN and similar acts and influenced tracks, including some introductions to Underworld and Hexstatic long time a ago. Very good expecting an DJ outing this weekend at Latitude for this remix.
Friends of the Night (Acid Casuality Remix) Sounds like a possible soundtrack from Spirited away. A scene where there might be a pond surrounded , gentle chicken shakes, and plucked electronic drips and odd insects skating around on the surface.
Like Herod (Live) A very well produced Live version of Like Herod from 97’s Young Team album, a full rounded Post Rock, from dripping melody to screaming bloody murder guitars. Ace.
We’re No Here (Live) Feedback rocking the speakers or the mic to it’s edge introduce this live version. Stonking heavy slow riff’s make me want to pick up a guitar. Almost doom rock like: Sunn o))) were you in the audience that day?
This is a great EP, however the title track seems to lend nothing to it.
Out Now!
