As is obvious from the title of this compilation, Gigolo is nearly ten years old and if anything seems to be getting better with age - although we’d hesitate to use dirty words like maturing.
High points include M.A.N.D.Y of Get Physical’s exclusive remix of ‘Just Let Go’, Bodzin and Huntemann’s ‘Black Ice’, Mike Perras’ ‘Beginning Of Life’ and Hell’s driving ‘Fun Boy’, which has surprisingly fluid organ and bass lines. Kiko &Gino’s ‘Good Sluts Factory’ needs mentioning for its title, but is also powerful electro house, for those still digging that groove, and Freaks ‘No Way Back’ is nicely times off centre disco.
Those familiar with DJ Hell’s work - which should be everyone - won’t find many surprises here and as usual the intention sometimes outstrips the finish. But this is a Gigolo product and therefore by definition it’s made of sturdy Teutonic electronic stuff.
