Julian Hamilton and Kimberly Issac Moyes, aka The Presets, follow the current boy girl trend in electronic music - although rarely it’s Julian who takes on most of the vocal roles.

Another slightly unusual feature is they come from down under - although the days when anyone was surprised that Australia has a good music scene are well gone.

Firmly in the electro camp, they cover all the basis, opening with the glam inspired techno of ‘Steamworks’, twisting through the pop electro house (ugh! what a name) of ‘Are You The One?’, rage against rock on ‘Dow Down Down’, turn retro Fischerspooner-like for ‘Girl And The Sea’, get moody for ‘Black Background’ and funky and dirty for the excellent ‘Worms’. ‘I Go Hard I Go Home’ is equally excitable synth-pop music, while ‘Bad Up Your Betterness’ is bass driven post punk indie rock. Finally ‘Beams’ is a quirky lo-fi meander through an enchanted forest.
