Been putting off listening to this for some reason, was expecting some mid 90’s trip-hop affair from the name Kid:Coda. But opening it up it seems to be far from it an exciting cinematic spooky scuzzy bass & drumbeat lead affair, Jaws:5. Theremin wailing sitting over the top.

The next track Dudsie goes all Peter Gabriel on us as a very nice basslined and glasto healing fields type track. Wait ‘till the morning continues the healing field experience drawing on Air and quite a bit of Zero 7, is this album is heading towards some mid 90’s trip hop affair that the name hinted at all that time (20mins) ago?

Keep the Belief is back on the live feel, Kasabian-ish even. Don’t know whether that is a good thing, but you could definitely put it in the Jazz Café and get dancing with some random stranger to it. The Hunger is squidgy, Laid back layered electro. drumbeat is timed just right, big organ. Our DJ outfit Beef Warehouse would play this track out.

The album is a mixed bag, very electro and supportive of a lot of the new wave of electro dance that is sneaking around DJ boxes at the moment, but often the album is dragging it’s heels and is rarely up-tempo. Definitely more Tunng then Justice. I definitely prefer the tracks with a more sinister edge. Jaws:5 & Tracts. The Bass playing and guitar work over the songs is very accomplished, although often the vocals are set back in the mix which makes the songs pass by a bit. The quiet vocals mean that it is impossible to work out what they/he is singing about, like vocalist is very shy of his content as he might be singing about his guitar players girlfriend and doesn’t want anyone to know about it. Shhh… Keep it down.

Well turn up that first track that is for sure.
