Simply Red mainman, Mick Hucknall, has announced that the band are to split after completing their world tour in 2009. The irritatingly successful band will have been going for 25 years by that point.

Hucknall, a well known fan of models, is going to continue making music unfortunately, except now he'll work under his own name. He says he wants to concentrate on "[inventing] a new form of music". Well, you can't say he hasn't got ambition.

I just found out that over the course of their career, Simply Red have sold more than 50 million records worldwide. 50 MILLION. Seriously, what is wrong with people?
