It has been reported by digitalmusicnews.com that the Download company Napster has just laid off 10% of it's workforce. Employee's mentioned in the downsizing in the company were ordered to leave immediately. with no prior warning. The company a week ago announced their were no immediate plans for any significant layoffs.

Napster world wide had just under 250,000 customers December last year 2004, which has doubled to 500,000 December 2005. This is compared to apples growth of 6,000,000 end of play 2004 to 20,000,000 December 2005
