Madonna: Maverick sold-off
Wednesday, August 22, 2007
Further fueling the rumours that she is to sign a 360 degree recording, touring and merchandising contract with music entertainment behemoth, Livenation, today it was announced that Madonna has sold her 60% share of her Maverick label to the Warner Music Group, who have also bought out the rest of her contract with the label.
Maverick, as well as being Madonna's home for the last 12 years, also has acts such as Deftones and Alanis Morissette on its books, and acts as the US label for The Prodigy.
The sale follows a lawsuit filed by Maverick against Warner Music and their parent company, Time Warner, back in March. Which was, of course, met with a counter-suit, with both parties claiming the other had cost them millions of dollars.
