We won’t lie to you, readers, but Music Towers was never that impressed by The Long Blondes. We saw them live a few times, we gave their albums a few spins, but they never really set our cockles alight. It seemed that the public at large shared this opinion, with the band never getting the commercial sales to back up their (many) critical plaudits.
However, we’re still very sad to report that the band have split up. In an announcement on their MySpace page, guitarist Dorian Cox broke the news, the reason being a stroke he suffered earlier in the year, which has prevented him from playing the guitar. He went on to give thanks to the bands fans, and to everyone who has sent him well-wishes after hearing of this ill health. Music Towers would like to add our voice to those wishing him a speedy recovery, as well as wishing him best of luck – and the rest of The Long Blondes - in whatever project they find themselves in next.
