Mouthy Lady Sovereign has been having a go at Britain’s favourite reality TV pop product: Girls Aloud. While they might not have much competition amongst the wasteland of acts spawned by the Cowell factory, Music Towers have a soft-spot for the synth-happy fivesome.

"I'm not their biggest fan. They release a new bloody song every week - it's just not credible. And they're getting old. They're sweet girls but they're past it now. Will they be here this time next year? Nah, they'll be withered up by then," said the Wembley-born rapper, real name Louise Harman, to MTV.

Lady Sovereign is just four years younger than Sarah Harding, the oldest member of Girls Aloud. Outside the US, where she is inexplicably popular, Lady Sovereign is best known for her refusal to engage a giant pastry in a rap battle. I guess she sees Girls Aloud as a slightly easier target.
