Keith Richards has backed down on those claims that he snorted the ashen remains of his dead father. Perhaps because he didn’t think that his comments would end up being read by everyone on the entire planet. Even Channel 4 News!

Richards has said that it was just an exaggerated rock’n’roll boast. Perhaps old age has mellowed him. Perhaps when he fell out of that coconut tree last year, it shook something loose in his brain. A few years ago, Richards wouldn’t have backed down, he’d probably upped the rumours and said he smoked some of his mum at the same time – even if she was still alive at the time. And then buggered off back to Switzerland to flush his blood clean of them.

The moral of the story? We shouldn’t necessarily believe everything we read.
