Futureheads launch label

After being dumped by 679 Recordings last November, The Futureheads announced that rather than chase after major label cash they're going to go it alone with their own label, which they're calling Longest Mile. And this week they've got some releases out for download from young tykes, Catweasels.
The north-west beat-combo "only" sold 32,000 copies of their sophomore album, "News And Tributes", which is why they were dropped by Warner-owned subsiduary 679. While this might seem an enormous amount to a lot of folks, I guess the slaes just didn't back up the cost of the push the record was given - hey, they had TV spots and everything.
Guitarist Ross Millard explains: "After doing the band for so many years you realise how the cogs of the [music industry] machine work. People are so naive about how it works - we're just trying to facilitate some younger bands". Music Towers thoroughly recommends you go download the Catweasel tracks, as they're rather splendid.
