French MP's are go to the vote to force companies like Apple and Microsoft to share their DRM formats.

Currently the Major record labels only support Itunes Fairplay or Windows Media's Digital Rights Management. This bill will allowing digital music to be played on all players no matter where you buy it.

After Parliment votes on it the bill would still need to go through the Frence senate a lenthy process. Music Experts speculate that if this bill does pass it may serve as long overdue breaking point in a DRM war that has seen markets vastley divided.

This move may force Apple to decide whether to resign from France or update the Ipods for a wider standard compatability.
