What? Elbow are doing an album of children’s music, you say?

Well, that’s what Guy Garvey, singer with the Manchester-based Mercury Prize-winning indie-types has been saying to Billboard.

"We initially thought that it would be great to make music for children because the lads in the band have got kids and they were saying how little really decent music for children there is. The more that we thought about it the more that we liked the idea," Garvey says. "We've quite often been up for having songs on children's animated films, but we thought that it would be great to actually be at the starting point for that process."

Yes, they’re thinking about doing an animated film too. Gosh. And they’re still planning on doing their fifth studio album – for grown-ups as well – for 2009 as well. Golly.

Elbow have a download-only single, ‘The Bones of You’, out next week. I’m not sure how it works, seeing as it’s a track off the Mercury Prize-winning The Seldom-Seen Kid, which means you can already download it. EXACTLY.

Anyway, here’s Elboe playing ’The Bones of You’ over at Abbey Road studios:
