EMI, Sony and Warner took online retailer CD-Wow back to court today, claiming that despite an agreement to stop selling cheap imported CDs back in 2004, the website has been sending out CDs sourced from Hong Kong.

CD-Wow, owned by Music Trading Online has claimed that any CDs sent from foreign territories were down to human error, and were not intentional breaches of the law.

Of course, it could be argued that the fixed-price system the labels are keen to enforce based on geographic region is harmful and unfair to the consumer. It could also be said that with the fears over illegal downloads, the record labels should be grateful of any and all legitimate purchases of their physical products.

CD-Wow is the second biggest online music retailer in the UK, shipping up to 100,000 CDs a day. The case continues in the High Court.
