Ace Frehley for Download?

How did we let this announcement slip by? It seems that ex-KISS guitarist, Ace Frehley, is to play this year’s Download Festival…on the same day as his former band (those aforementioned KISS fellows) are headlining the Main Stage. However, judging by the war of words that’s erupted between Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, the only other ‘classic’ KISS members left in h band, and Frehley and ex-drummer Peter Criss, I think we are safe in saying an on-stage re-union won’t be happening.
In other Download Festival-related news, recently-disappointing Ash, doing-for-drum-n-base-what-the-Prodigy-did-to-techno-in-the-eys-of-metalheads-types Pendulum, solid rockin’ Black Stone Cherry, the emo-ish sigh that is Elliot Minor, and Airbourne (imagine a cheap rubbish version of AC/DC), have all also been added to the bill.
Details of how the bands are being split across the stages have been announced as well – click here for the full breakdown. Music Towers are quite pleased it looks like watching Kid Rock will probably mean we don’t get to see Charlie Busted’s Fightstar. Oh golly gosh.
