In a surprising move, Ticketmaster almost appear to be giving up on a wider strategy for world ticket domination. Ticketmaster has been spun off from its parent company, IAC/InterActiveCorp, and its divisions have been split into five seperate publicly traded companys. Echomusic, TicketService and TicketWeb companies (where are the other two? I don't know I am just paraphrasing from another article, being a lazy journalist).

Ticketmaster CEO, Sean Moriarty, had this to say: "The live business is changing rapidly and so is Ticketmaster. IAC has been a fantastic owner and supporter of Ticketmaster for nearly a decade, and has put us in a great position to succeed as a public company".

Now the rumour mill has it that Live Nation have put $200 million into devloping their ticketing system, and plan to go it utterly alone when the contract with Ticketmaster is due to be re-newed. This moves allows divisions of Ticketmaster to be sold, say to AEG? Or possibly Live Nation? They could both buy their own little bit.

But at the end of the day they are all big rich wankers, so why do we care? This is the reason why people should endeavour to blag into all major gigs. And only pay for the little ones.
