Credit: Burial is many critics' preferred winner....
It's crept up on us: since being announced at the end of July, we've been able to put the Nationwide Mercury Prize out of our minds as we gallavanted around the UK at more festivals than we have fingers to count them on. But they've arrived, and tomorrow night in London town, the 2008 winner will be announced.
If, like Music Towers, you like a flutter everynow and then, you've still got time to hoof down some dollar in the hope of predicting which album the secretive Mercury judging panel plumps for. We've scoured the internet, and at the time of posting this up, these are the best odds you'll get today:
Burial - Untrue 5/4 (Stan James)
Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid 5/1 (Sky Bet)
Radiohead – In Rainbows 5/1 (Bet 365)
Laura Marling – Alas I Cannot Swim 12/1 (Bet 365)
Rachel Unthank & The Winterset – The Bairns 20/1 (Bet 365)
Neon Neon – Stainless Style 30/1 (Bet 365)
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss – Raising Sand 35/1 (Bet 365)
Portico Quartet Knee – Deep in the North Sea 40/1 (Sky Bet)
Adele –19 40/1 (Bet 365)
Estelle – Shine 50/1 (Stan James)
The Last Shadow Puppets – The Age of Understatement 25/1 (Stan James)
British Sea Power – Do you like Rock Music? 25/1 (Bet 365)
We're hoping Burial will win. If only because it'll net us some cold hard cash from our bookmaker. This credit crunch don't make running a website any cheaper, y'know? But who knows - the panel might do an M People and choose one of the unexpected options....
