It looks like hundreds of Girls Aloud fans are going to be £40 out of pocket, after the promoter of a 'End of Tour' Party seems to have done a runner.

The Plymouth-based, Edge Promotions, emailed ticket holders today (8th August) to inform they have ceased trading and the concert is off. Edge promoter, Shaun Hooper, was talking to the Plymouth Herald last week about losing between £50k-£60k on the event.

"There was no malicious intention to do this and to rip people off. That's the last thing I would want to do," he said.

Hooper blamed poor ticket sales for the cancellation - but admitted it was the first time he had tried to stage such a large-scale show.

According to the BBC, the band's Agency, William Morris, said they were unaware of the problem and are now trying to sort it out.

William Morris are a big multi-million dollar company - Girls Aloud are a big multi-million pound industry. Edge Promotions sounds like a small promoter that doesn't have the backing to make a mistake like he did.

William Morris and Girls Aloud could sort this out in a phone call. Do you want to do the gig anyway - for the fans... William Morris would've got a deposit that they could put into the show - it would cover the venue hire.

So a bit of advice: Girls Aloud fans put the pressure on the band & William Morris direct. They are the ones with money that could afford to make it go ahead anyway.
