It’s been a great year for Led Zeppelin. Their ‘comeback’ show this month was a wild success, and their self-compiled greatest hits collection, ‘Mothership’, has done satisfyingly well too. Dear old Robert Plant has been particularly fortunate, as his album with Alison Krauss, ‘Raising Sand’, did foolishly well – so much so the pair are touring Europe and America next year.
But surely all of this pales in insignificance with the accolade bestowed upon the Led Zep frontman today: BEARD OF THE YEAR!
The Beard Liberation Front (no, really, click here for details) have given him the title, which is awarded to those who promote “a positive image of hirsuteness”. Other people praised by the BLF include Radio 2 DJ and general rake, Russell Brand.
Music Towers are big supporters of Beards in all forms of rock. If you ever saw the staff gathered together, the beard:non-beard ratio on the male members of the Music Towers collective is distinctly hairier in the face than an average sample of the British population. So we salute Robert Plant, and his beard, for this mighty achievement.
