What’s your DJ handle and real name
John Truelove

Where are you from?
London town, born and bred

How would you define your style?
All over the place!! But when I DJ i tend to prefer to bang it - hard trance, techno, electro-tech. When I get around to it, I make a broad range of music from breaks through house to banging techno

What got you into DJing/ making music?
The sociable working hours. I can't get up in the morning so I'm no good for a proper job. But seriously , we had been clubbing like crazy through 88 and 89 and just decided it would be fun to make a record - that was the original bootleg version of You Got The Love - the DJing followed some time after, cos people just presume that because you make records you can play them too, so they offer you gigs. It would have been rude to refuse.

What are your earliest musical memories?
Apparently as a baby i used to scream for the radio to be turned off if any music was played...but you would have too if you had been made to listen to Tony Blackburn! The first proper album I bought was Dark Side of the Moon, and when I was playing it for the first time some lunatic came knocking at the door and my mum went and opened it thinking that the bells at the beginning of 'time' were the police....then the police actually had to be called

What are the best clubs you’ve ever played?
Hard Kandy in Melbourne a few years ago was a very memorable gig, as was my first ever live performance (as Lectrolux) at the Brixton Academy in 2002

What was your worst club experience?
Passing out on the decks at a gig in New Zealand is pretty much up there. I hadn't slept for days and the jet lag finally did for me. I passed out and came round a minute later on the floor with the mixer teetering on the edge of the table above me - another second and i would have had a hole in my head. I still rocked the party, mind!
