The latest quality leftside electronic act to emerge from the Compost camp,
Munch born Maullaum, aka DJ Force, give us the inside story.

What's your production name. DJ handle and real name.
My production & DJ name is Force, my new project is called Muallem, so I am
also using that name sometimes when DJing. My real name is David Muallem.

Where are you from?
I was born in Munich, moved to Tel Aviv in '99, to London in '00 and to NYC
in '05. It's not where ya from.it's all bout where ya at!!! So, currently
I'm in Berlin for a couple of days.

How would you define your style?
Wild style electronica with a hint of street & lemon. Interstellar disco
sound!!!

What got you into making music?
It was a very natural process. I started collecting records at a very young
age. In the beginning it wasn't really my own interest, but rather my elder
brother's interest. He was really into music...buying records all the time
and mixing them at home. So I basically just followed my elder brother. When
I started clubbing I experienced my love for electronic music. When I
started to DJ in clubs I always dreamt of having vinyl with my own stuff on
it so that I could share it with the crowd. I always had loads of fun
sharing my musical taste with others, to move other people. It was just not
enough to listen to other's music, I wanted to participate and write my own
tunes. When my brother gave me an MPC 2000 for my 15th birthday I was so
excited about all the stuff you can do with this little box. It was very
important for me to move on from passively checking out what's going on to
actively taking part. Having a cultural output is very important for me.

What are your earliest musical memories?
Checking out my brother's and Oskar Melzer's record collection with Oskar's
little brother Micki. We spent ages listening to those tunes and recorded
them on tape. I had my first Walkman back then. Highlights included the
monthly second-hand record fair at Salvatorkeller in Munich. I bought a lot
of stuff there I did not even know what it is. Now I'm happy to have those
rockers included in my collection. I started djing when I was 15, I will
never forget my first gigs. I was nervous as hell.
