There’s been plenty of fantastic moments in 2006 – discovering the sheer balls-out brazen brilliance of Louie, experiencing The Rakes rampaging up a kebab shop in South London, and watching pierced children re-create John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars at Download – but my highlight of the year has to be seeing Eurovision legends Lordi literally passing out at the bar during the Metal Hammer Awards. Moral of the story? Massive latex costumes and fur-covered prosthesis do not mix well with drinking your own blood weight in booze on one of the hottest days of the year.
