Hi Session,
So what are all your guises and whom do you collaborate with?
At the moment I go under a few different names for various projects, Session and The Bear is me and Polar bear, we’re working on some exciting tracks at the moment, then there’s Equalizers, that’s me and Clocker’s Breakbeat guise, we’ve got a single out at the mo that’s doing well and more on the way, Sesh:One is my drum&bass alter ego, should be hearing something soon with W10 records, a west London d&b label. Then there’s just Session, which is my umbrella name for my production and music, I’ve been producing for Wrec, a seasoned vet when it comes to MC’ing, we did a track together called ‘The Great British Moan’ which you can download for free at http://www.myspace.com/mcwrec. Also play drums in a band called Sol Devious.
Anyone you would love to collaborate with?
There’s two people I’ve always wanted to get in the studio with, one is Liam Howlett, king of dance music, I’d want to make some good dance with him, and the other is Prince, the man is a modern day genius.
Any regular nights we can you hear you spinning at?
No residencies at the moment but Equalizers are playing various breakbeat sets around the UK and Session and the Bear is coming to a town near you.
Have any releases out we should be buying?
Pandemic by Equalizers, a big dance floor bass line tune that is guaranteed to get your feet slipping and a’ sliding, that’s on Wireframe Records sister label to Hardcore beats.
And other new tracks you recommend we have to own?
Me and Polar Bear have put together our EP, should be out within the month, I strongly suggest you go and buy it!
I hear that you have just had a US tour, how did that come about?
Well I’m just been to L.A for 2 months, a bit of business and a bit of pleasure, the breakbeat scene is taking off over there, so Nexus Breaks (the agency behind the gig dates) booked me for a couple of dates as Equalizers on the strength of the single.
Myspace@ shameless hole of pornography, or pioneer and empower of new music? I think the whole “I’m on here to meet friends and stuff, like, yer” is a joke, people really do need to go out more. On the other hand the music section is great as you can hook up collab’s with people in other countries you wouldn’t normally meet, I did a track with a rapper from Philly, now that wouldn’t have happened without Myspace, and I’ve now got five Myspace’s relating to different projects!! So on that side of things it’s useful.
What are your Current top ten tracks?
Mmmmm, tuff……….
1. I’m a Cuckoo – Belle & Sebastian
2. Pandemic – Equalizers (shameless)
3. Candle Light – Session and the Bear (and again)
4. Lolita – Prince
5. Brand New – Ryhmefest and Kanye West
6. Cloudbusting – Kate Bush
7. We Aint Playin Games – Chunks & Alan B
8. A Subfocus tune I don’t know the name of
9. That tune by the Kooks, very catchy
10. Milk – Kings Of Leon
