Humanzi are the latest angry 4 piece to come out of Dublin.
And they've got stuff to say. Eden Anderson caught up with frontman Shaun Mulrooney on tour in Europe.
Where did you wake up this morning?
Berlin!
What last made you and angry and why?
Israel and American government attack on Lebanon. The complete lack of respect for human life has been unreal. Its made me angry because of the lack of help the international community has shown
Your debut album is in the shops now. Why should we buy it?
Its an upfront honest to jasus rock'n'roll album with a few surprise's. That's why
Discuss what you feel is the hightlight track on the album:
My favorite track would be diet pills or fix the cracks. I pick these 2 because it represents all four personalitys. Loud drums, fuzzy bass, louder guitar lines. And edgy vocals. And they where the most fun to record
'Diet Pills and Magazines" is an obvious comment on consumerism in todays advertising-driven world. In your view is it the advertisers we should be angry at for selling us the products or the actual clients and corporations who approach the advertisers?
That's a tough question because we are all part of the problem. But it isn't until we get older that you start to think about these things. " like im in the toilet washing my hands, and I look in the mirror and there is a halogram advertisment for 24 hour online poker lookin at me'. Jesus all I wanted to do was take a leek!
Folklore tells us you formed from the ashes of a fight Is it fair to say that anger and energy are at the foundation of the band?
The fight was just a load of drunken teenagers really. No we are not as angry as people think there is a frustration in our music that we all face everyday and music is a good why to vent that. Trust me if your ever in Dublin you can come to mine for a nice cup of tea
If Humanzi were a movie - what movie would they be:
A none violent one, Emma perhaps!
