Downloaded that South by South West Bit torrent that was posted on their site, and discovered there are over a thousand tracks on it. So figured play them on random and review the songs as we go, without any research but what only I hear. Reviews are simple 1/2 I would leave it on the shelf or has only a destiny of being skipped, 2/2 it comes home for keeps or gets considered for the new club night or heads towards the Ipod.

Um on second thoughts listening through this SXSW bit torrent may take some time, here is tonights random selection. Click on the names and download the tracks.

VetoYou are the Knife: Clicking on the first tune that takes my fancy as I thought it was The Knife I was at first disappointed I misread the title, but then it is more endearing most of the indie shcmindie that the airwaves are rapidly filling up with, and if the knife were a guitar band could quite easily be them. Great track. 2/2

VolcanoFire Fire:  Discordant chords and building noise as if it was someone tuning their guitars and decided to break into song. Sounds like someone has been taking crazy pills when the vocals come back to us. And then from a sonic youth dwardling we have a surprise heavily riffed break that is Zeppelin worthy in the middle. But this harrowed recording is pulling in a thousand different directions and nothing seems tight. Genius or shite? can't decide and want to hear more. 2/2

Washington Social ClubBacked to the future: American college indie schmindie, nice little summer ditty. Filled with what feels like mid 90’s run down philly college house holiday music. Would I buy it? Nah. 1/2

King StranglerGood Man: Simon and Garfunkel sentimentalities, choo choo train brush led beats and a line that sticks ‘a good man doesn’t spit’. I have yet to see a good man that spits a agree heartily. But the track itself is way too naff 1/2

CarbonasInside outside: Straight in like a punk rock fight at the marathon bar. An early Ramones sound with a driving buzzing guitar, Can’t hear a word he is saying and it is mixed like a dead dog salad, can barely work out a symbol from a bass guitar. 1/2
