What's your DJ handle and real name?
Spektrum Soundsystem (feat Gabriel Olegavich & Isaac Tucker)
Where are you from?
Gabriel -London, UK
Isaac -New Zealand
How would you define your style?
Gabriel: A party driving mash-up of music that really makes you wanna dance. We don't get stuck in one style for the whole set. We'll get you moving some new electro shit & then drop the tempo & go into some quirky hip-hop or oldskool grooves, then bounce back into some acid house. Kinda like our band Spektrum -we're musical Casanovas, flirting with various different styles and genres.
Isaac: An unadulterated mashup.
What got you into DJing/making music?
Gabriel: Walking to primary school & hearing 'White Lines' playing out of someone's flat - that got me into Funk & hip-hop, & that inspired me, a few years later, to start buying 2nd-hand records in Greenwich market. Once you've got a bit of a record collection, you suddenly realise that you can be the DJ at your mates party & that other people do want to hear your rare Spoony G vinyls!
Isaac: I have been involved in music as a musician for 16 years and spent most of my childhood playing around with my dads 101s and synths. We used to jam a lot too.
What are your earliest musical memories
Gabriel: Writing songs in the playground with Nathan, an old school friend, aged 10 and 11. Everyone else was playing football, but we were in pop song heaven!
Isaac: Dad playing me Grace Jones, Miles Davis LL Cool J and Arthur Baker music in the 80s, he banned Abba and most commercial stuff, but really went hard with the experimental.
